Philip Lhermette opened the practice in January 1987 and since then Elands Veterinary Clinic has been offering a high quality, caring and professional service to the people and pets in our local community.

Philip has an interest in surgery, especially keyhole surgery. He pioneered both laser endosurgery minimally invasive surgery and keyhole bitch spays in the UK, his focus being on ensuring less pain and a quicker recovery for his patients.

As well as contributing to numerous publications, Philip lectures extensively throughout the UK and worldwide.

Since April 2018 Philip has been the President of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA). BSAVA is a professional body that serves veterinary surgeons who treat companion animals and has over 11,000 members.

In 2010, the practice expanded and relocated to St John’s Church, London Road, Dunton Green which was beautifully converted to offer everything our patients require in modern, purpose built facilities. We also opened a branch in Kemsing that year for the convenience of our clients in that area.

The Dunton Green clinic has separate kennels and cattery wards for postoperative care, an isolation ward for infectious cases and a fully equipped laboratory and pharmacy. The practice routinely uses ultrasound as this enables investigation of many conditions without the need for a general anaesthetic or even sedation.  We continue to invest in state of the art technology each year. Other facilities such as the digital x-ray machine, dental x-rays, and our in-house laboratory allow patients to be treated promptly.  Blood and urine samples are analysed in-house and results can therefore usually be reported to pet owners the same day. Above all we care for each individual patient with compassion and kindness, as we would our own pets.

As well as offering care for all domestic pets, Elands Veterinary Clinic offers a referral service to other veterinary practices in ophthalmology, advanced medicine, orthopaedic surgery and minimally invasive surgery techniques – more commonly known as keyhole surgery.  Pets who routinely attend Elands can also benefit from these services as they are readily available should they be required.

The Veterinary Surgeons at the clinic are Philip Lhermette, Anna Lhermette, Madeleine Kasch and Rebecca Nye. All of our vets care for patients at Dunton Green as well as Kemsing Branch so pets will have the advantage of  the facilities at both branches.

Our vets are ably assisted by our qualified Veterinary Nurses Emma Barty (Head Nurse), Josephine Ellison, Erica Wilkes and Laura Compton who are supported by Natalie Smith (Veterinary Care Assistant) We choose to only employ fully qualified staff to ensure the best possible care for our patients.

On the non-clinical side, you are welcomed at the practice either in person or over the telephone by one of our four receptionists; Karen Leahy, Lesley Porter, Tracy Snelling and Angela Golding.  Saija Smith is our Practice Manager and she greatly enjoys being involved with planning and organising the dog show as well as getting to know those with pets in our local community.

If you have any questions regarding your pet’s health, please feel free to telephone the Dunton Green clinic on 01732 452333 or the Kemsing Branch on 01732 761650.
