new attractions for 2025!

bat and trap game

This year, The Rising Sun, Twitton will be holding a Bat & Trap stand at the village fete. Bat & Trap is an old Kentish game, traditionally played on village greens and in pub gardens. It is reported to have originated in the early 17th Century in Kent although some suggest it could be as early as the 14th century, being the forerunner of cricket.

JOSH NEVILLE’S PUNCH AND JUDY

We are delighted to announce that we have a fun new attraction this year - the return of Mr Punch and his lovely wife Judy.

Mr Punch’s handler Josh Neville, who is only 17 years old, became the youngest member of the Punch & Judy Fellowship, when he was just 13 and has performed for celebrities such as Brian May and Dame Judi Dench. Did you know that ther have been P&J shows in the UK for over 350 years? Although Punch & Judy performances have come under criticism in the past, Josh has adapted his shows for the 21st Century, having ditched the outdated stereotypical performance by Mr Punch, so now it is Judy who gets the last laugh! Come along and enjoy some good old fashioned family entertainment!

There will be three performances for you to enjoy on the day which will all be free of charge.
